Following the departure of Dalton Knecht from the Los Angeles Lakers, a new player will wear and play in the No. 4 jersey for the franchise.
The Lakers announced Wednesday that Matisse Thybulle will be changing his jersey number from No. 26 to 4.
The new Lakers forward will enter the 2026-27 NBA season wearing Knecht's old number in LA.
Matisse Thybulle takes Dalton Knecht's No. 4 in Lakers
After joining the Los Angeles Lakers on a one-year deal this offseason, Matisse Thybulle chose to wear No. 26. He has worn the jersey number since the preseason.
Now that Dalton Knecht is no longer in the franchise following the Lakers' decision to waive him last Monday, Thybulle has now pivotted in going back to No. 4.
That is also his jersey number during his previous four-season run with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Knecht wore No. 4 for the Lakers in the past two seasons after being drafted with the 17th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Knecht recently cleared waivers after no team picked up his current contract. He is now an unrestricted free agent and fully available to choose his next team after his Lakers exit.
