Enzo Maresca declared Erling Haaland fit for Aston Villa but three more of his Manchester City players are injury doubts. Haaland was an unused substitute in midweek while Nico O'Reilly, Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic all missed the game after the quartet picked up injuries against Ipswich.
City will be without Antoine Semenyo for the next eight weeks after he picked up a knee injury in that game. And while Phil Foden's hat-trick in midweek suggests that he could step up for that period, Maresca will still be hoping that he does not have to contend with more injuries.
"We have a session this afternoon. They could all be available or not. They are still doubts. Yesterday they were all improving and we will see this afternoon. Erling is the only one who is 100 per cent available and the other three we need to wait on today's session."
City are looking to extend their perfect start in the Premier League that has seen them win their first seven games. They play Villa on Saturday lunchtime before Arsenal, who are three points behind them, take on Everton at home in the afternoon.
"The mood is very good, we are happy with our start but we are hungry for more wins," Maresca said. "Happy at the moment but we want more. We are happy with our start but we want more so we are going to try to prepare to win Saturday's game."
