Diogo Jota #20 of Liverpool during the game
The memories of Diogo Jota will continue to be remembered at Liverpool for many generations to come.
Jota and his brother André Silva died on July 3, 2025, when their car crashed in Spain, just 11 days after the forward had married his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso.
The tragedy came only weeks after Jota had won the Premier League with Liverpool and the Nations League with Portugal.
Since his death, Liverpool have retired his No.20 shirt, unveiled a mural and permanent memorial outside Anfield, and continued to pay tribute to him and his brother on anniversaries and milestones throughout the past year.
Supporters have also raised more than £226,000 towards a grassroots football programme in his memory, with profits from shirt printing and commemorative T-shirts going directly to LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity.
Now, Liverpool have announced the release of a new biography celebrating the life, career and legacy of Jota, with all of the club’s profits going towards a grassroots football programme established in his name.
The new book, Forever in Our Hearts, is described by Liverpool as a biography celebrating Diogo Jota’s life, career and legacy.
It is written by award-winning Portuguese journalist and former professional footballer Jose Manuel Delgado, whose original Portuguese-language biography of Jota, released in Portugal in May 2026, has now been adapted for the UK market.
The 288-page hardback features interviews with Liverpool figures including former manager Jürgen Klopp, current captain Virgil van Dijk and former captain Jordan Henderson, alongside Jota’s Portuguese team-mates.
This family-backed UK edition also includes exclusive contributions from Jota’s parents and his wife, Rute.
Rute recounts in detail how she sent her husband video clips from their wedding on the night of the crash, growing increasingly worried as the hours passed without a response. The book also features reflections from current head coach Arne Slot.
Klopp, who signed Jota for Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020, is among the contributors. He has revealed he was adamant about bringing Jota to the club and admits he still struggles to process the forward’s death.
Explaining why he agreed to take part, Klopp said he wanted to talk about Diogo and to think about him.
Every purchase of the book supports LFC Foundation, with all of Liverpool’s profits funding a grassroots football programme established in Diogo Jota’s name. Forever in Our Hearts is on sale now, priced at £22.
The book traces Jota’s journey from his early years at a youth academy in Gondomar, Portugal, to becoming one of the most admired players of his generation and a deeply loved member of the Liverpool family.
It charts the period that culminated in Premier League glory with Liverpool and Nations League success with Portugal in 2025, before reflecting on the tragic events that followed his wedding and the wave of grief and tribute that followed his and André’s deaths.
