_Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Ravens fans and fans across the country._
The Baltimore Ravens are 4-2 through the first third of Jesse Minter’s first season as head coach. He and Anthony Weaver have delivered a top-15 defense to start the year, while Declan Doyle’s offense is firmly among the best in the league.
This week, Baltimore Beatdown wants to know how you would grade Minter and his staff in their first six games. Answer the survey below and share your additional thoughts in the comments!
Injuries are an unfortunate but excellent way to test a new coaching staff early in their tenure. Minter and Co. have not been able to meet the sky-high preseason expectations with just one multi-possession win, but they deserve credit for winning close games through a slew of injuries. It is very possible that the Ravens are 2-4 right now if not for the staff’s ability to keep the team on the rails down the stretch.
There is still plenty of room to go. Minter has publicly taken the defense’s third-down struggles on his shoulders, and the unit as a whole is still not playing up to their talent. Doyle is still searching for the right levers to pull in short-yardage situations, but injuries have also impacted him the most. His offense could finally take full flight with Lamar Jackson back on the field and taking snaps from a true center in Cam Jurgens.
To be frank, Anthony Levine’s special teams units have hurt more than they have helped. Continued struggles from Tyler Loop could test the staff’s commitment to the second-year kicker, especially with Jake Moody back on the practice squad. The Ravens’ margins have gotten very tight with a competitive AFC North and a tough rest-of-season schedule, so they cannot afford to lose multiple games due to special teams.
Now, it’s your turn. Grade Jesse Minter and his coaching staff in the survey below and tell us why in the comments!
