Tacko Fall is not expected to have a major role with the Philadelphia 76ers, but the team might see the 7-foot-6 center as regular-season insurance who can provide short stretches when injuries or foul trouble hit.

ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin outlined what Philadelphia is realistically hoping to get from Fall during a Reddit AMA.
"I see him as insurance to help get through 82 games," McMenamin wrote. "Two-way players are ineligible to play in the postseason, so it's really just having another big body for 10 minutes here and there when there are fouls or injuries."
McMenamin also pointed to Fall's relationship with Sixers star Jaylen Brown as another positive factor, as the two played together in Boston.
"His relationship with Jaylen Brown doesn't hurt things either," McMenamin added.
Philadelphia originally signed Fall to an Exhibit 10 contract on September 1 before converting his deal into a two-way contract in mid-October.
That deal provides roster flexibility. As McMenamin explained, "If Fall doesn't get healthy or doesn't work out, the Sixers can waive him and go find another big to fill that two-way spot immediately."
Fall has recently been working his way back from a left quadriceps strain that limited him during the preseason.
Tacko Fall returns to NBA after four seasons overseas
The 30-year-old went undrafted in 2019 after playing college basketball at UCF and began his NBA career with the Boston Celtics.
He spent two seasons with Boston before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2021-22 campaign.
Over 37 NBA regular-season games, Fall has averaged 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 67.3% from the field, mostly in limited minutes.
After leaving the NBA, Fall spent time playing in China and Australia's NBL.
Last season, he played 40 games for the Ningbo Rockets in China, averaging 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in 17.2 minutes while converting 79.9% of his field-goal attempts.
