**Catch Up**
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The incident that led to the release of the Tennessee Titans’ defensive tackle Jordan Elliott is under investigation by the National Football League and could result in a suspension.
A spokesperson for the NFL confirmed that the Titans notified the league of what happened and the matter “is under review.”
On October 15, Elliott was involved in an altercation with OT JC Latham during practice at the team’s facility in Nashville. The incident escalated and Elliott ended up pulling a gun from his vehicle in the parking lot.
A teammate helped calm Elliott down, and nothing further occurred, but the team declared him inactive for Sunday’s game against the Colts as they looked into what happened.
Following the Titans’ first win of the season on Sunday, the team then discovered that Elliott’s actions were enough to merit removal from the team, which they announced on Tuesday, October 20.

During a press conference on Wednesday, October 21, head coach Robert Saleh confirmed the details of the incident to reporters on Wednesday morning, while defending Elliott’s character.
“This is a man who is a father, a great husband,” Saleh said. “He’s never committed a crime in his entire life... and, he pulled a gun, in the parking lot. The first question that everyone forgets to ask is ‘why?’”
Saleh went on to vouch for Elliott as a man and an NFL player, and invited teams who are in need of a defensive lineman to give him a call, because Elliott “should be on an NFL roster.”
However, Elliott’s ability to land a job with another NFL team may be in jeopardy after the league confirmed that it was conducting its own investigation into the incident.
“The league’s firearm policy prohibits any personnel from bringing a firearm to club facilities, stadiums, and team hotels and on team planes or buses,” an NFL spokesperson explained. “The club promptly notified the league of the matter, which is under review.”
If Elliott is found to have been in violation of this policy, he could be suspended, which would make him unavailable for the duration of the suspension for another team.
Elliott is a six-year veteran of the NFL and a former 3rd-round pick of the Cleveland Browns. This season is his seventh in the league and first with the Titans after playing two years with the San Francisco 49ers. He played in all five of the Titans’ games in 2026 and recorded 11 total tackles (2 solo) before his release.
The NFL confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
