Freddie Woodman joined Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer of 2025 following the expiration of his contract with Preston North End, bolstering the club’s goalkeeping department.
The experienced stopper made his debut in a Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace at Anfield before featuring in the Premier League towards the end of his first season.
He came on as a substitute in Liverpool’s dramatic Merseyside derby victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium before impressing with several saves in a subsequent home win over Palace.
During pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, Woodman signed a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield. However, he is yet to make an appearance this season under Andoni Iraola.
Meanwhile, Woodman’s father, Andy, has left Bromley following the mutual termination of his contract as manager. Andy Woodman joined the League One club in 2021 for his first managerial role and oversaw the most successful period in their history, winning three trophies and guiding them into the Football League for the first time.
Bromley secured the League Two title in May to earn a second promotion under his leadership, with Woodman named the division’s Manager of the Year for 2025/26.
However, the Ravens have struggled in the third tier and currently sit 23rd, just one point above bottom-placed Wigan Athletic. They have won only two of their 10 league games this season and conceded an EFL-high 25 goals.
In a joint statement, Owner & Chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves expressed his appreciation for the success Andy has brought to the club: “I would firstly like to offer my sincere thanks to Andy for all he has achieved during his time with us.
“It’s no surprise that this club has reached new heights and Andy has been fundamental in helping us achieve that. I would like to reassure our supporters that we will be entering this new chapter with the same ambition and determination to keep moving this football club forward.
“On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future.” Assistant manager Byron Webster will take charge on an interim basis when Peterborough United visit Hayes Lane on Saturday.
Woodman’s five-year-and-seven-month spell in charge of Bromley was the third-longest managerial tenure among the 92 clubs in the Premier League and EFL, behind only Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Mansfield Town’s Nigel Clough.
