Former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has been linked with a return to Anfield, as well as a possible move to Arsenal, following an impressive start to life at Bayer Leverkusen.
More than 12 months on from his Anfield exit, the versatile defender has established himself as a regular starter for the Bundesliga side.
His performances have also earned him regular opportunities with the England national team under Thomas Tuchel, featuring at both centre-back and right-back.
The 23-year-old’s rapid rise has attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer windows. Liverpool have been linked with a move to bring him back to Merseyside, with reports suggesting a buyback clause in his contract could facilitate a return if the club activates the option and Quansah agrees to the move.
However, Liverpool could face competition for his signature, with Arsenal having shown keen interest over the summer. Real Madrid are also reportedly monitoring his progress ahead of a potential future move.
With speculation surrounding his future intensifying, Quansah has been asked about the possibility of a transfer in an interview with German outlet Sport Bild.
Quansah responded: “I just have to concentrate on playing this season. I’ll play as many games as possible and try to improve. There’s nothing more I can do.”
Jarell Quansah is under contract at Bayer Leverkusen until 2030, meaning three years would remain on his deal when the summer transfer window opens.
That could make a move difficult, although Liverpool’s potential buyback clause could place a ceiling on the fee required to bring him back to Anfield.
It remains unclear whether the Reds would consider activating the clause, with several issues in their defensive ranks set to be addressed in the coming months.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas are all out of contract next summer, while Ronald Araujo’s loan spell will also come to an end. Liverpool must therefore decide which deals to renew and whether sufficient depth and quality will remain in defence.
