Wide options can thin quickly when injuries strike in consecutive weeks. A summer signing who had been expected to provide cover on the left has already spent time on the sidelines, and a more established attacker on the opposite flank has now joined him. Those absences reopen discussions about reinforcements when the January window arrives.

Interest in a 21-year-old who has impressed in the Bundesliga had already been reported earlier in the campaign. The latest setback in Munich strengthens the case for exploring that avenue more seriously. Competition from other Premier League clubs remains a factor if any formal approach is made.

The player in question joined his current club in 2024 and has since become a regular feature in their attack. His contract runs until 2029, and any move would require a substantial fee. Arsenal’s previous summer enquiry did not progress, yet the landscape has shifted with the current injury list.

Arsenal are set to step up their pursuit of Antonio Nusa from RB Leipzig following the recent injury to Bukayo Saka, according to The Sun. The Gunners had already shown interest after Christos Tzolis suffered a hamstring problem on international duty, and the latest issue with Saka adds further urgency to their thinking ahead of January.

The Sun reports that Arsenal are leading the race to sign the 21-year-old Norway international. Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, while Newcastle and Aston Villa have shown interest according to German outlet fussball-news. Roma have made initial enquiries, and Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are believed to be keeping close tabs.

SunSport previously reported that Arsenal looked to sign Nusa in the summer and were prepared to offer around £34m. Leipzig were unwilling to sell at that stage. The club has since set a price tag of up to £55m, well above the player’s estimated market value of around £38m. Nusa is currently on a five-year deal worth £36,500 per week that runs until 2029.

Tzolis hobbled off during Greece’s Nations League match against the Netherlands and was later sent home with a hamstring injury. Saka then suffered a quad problem early in Arsenal’s Champions League draw with Bayern Munich and was forced off after 10 minutes. Mikel Arteta indicated the issue does not look good at all.

Leipzig have no intention of letting Nusa leave cheaply. Clubs will have the chance to bid when the transfer window opens on 1 January. Arsenal’s need for additional cover on the wings has grown clearer in recent days. Any formal approach would face competition from both domestic and European rivals.
