3 attackers Xabi Alonso should sign for Chelsea in the winter transfer window

Chelsea New Signing - Attackers

Chelsea have scored 17 goals and conceded 13 across seven Premier League matches in 2026/27, collecting 13 points by October 23. Xabi Alonso has introduced a flexible attacking structure, with Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and João Pedro supplying much of the team’s threat. However, adding another forward could give Chelsea greater choice during a demanding winter schedule.

The recruitment team must consider more than reputation. A new striker needs to complement Pedro, while another creative attacker should provide cover without blocking the progress of younger players. Three names offer different possibilities.

1. Victor Osimhen:

Victor Osimhen would give Chelsea a striker who attacks crosses, threatens defenders with his pace and finishes chances inside the penalty area. His direct running could create space for Palmer and Rogers, while João Pedro could operate deeper when Alonso wants two forwards to exchange positions.

Galatasaray signed the Nigeria international permanently from Napoli in 2025 for £64 million, based on the reported €75 million fee. His contract runs until 2029, making a January agreement difficult. Reports of a £128 million valuation would place him beyond a routine mid-season purchase, while his substantial salary would add another obstacle.

Osimhen therefore represents the established goalscoring option, although Chelsea would need to assess his availability and total cost before pursuing a deal.

2. Alberto Moleiro:

Alberto Moleiro offers a different profile. The Spanish attacker can operate from the left or move inside to create passing angles, giving Alonso another option when Palmer needs rest or opponents close down his preferred spaces.

Moleiro’s close control and ability to combine in tight areas could suit Chelsea’s possession-based approach. He could rotate with the established creators rather than demand an immediate starting place, provided the coaching staff sees enough value in his development.

Villarreal would have little reason to accept a discounted January offer for an important young attacker. Chelsea should therefore establish a sensible fee ceiling before making an approach, since the club already has several players competing for attacking minutes. No reliable transfer fee or weekly wage has been confirmed for a potential deal.

3. Gessime Yassine:

Gessime Yassine presents a longer-term opportunity. The 20-year-old Moroccan winger joined Strasbourg in January 2026 and has started seven Ligue 1 matches this season, scoring twice and supplying two assists.

According to TEAMtalk reporting cited by Sports Mole on October 20, Chelsea face interest from six other Premier League clubs. Shared ownership between Chelsea and Strasbourg could help negotiations, although any transfer still depends on the clubs’ plans and the player’s development.

Yassine can play on either flank, which gives Alonso tactical flexibility. However, Chelsea already have several wide attackers, so another young signing would make more sense if the club plans a loan or an eventual departure elsewhere in the squad.

His reported progress makes him worth monitoring, but the current competition for places means Chelsea must consider his route into the first team before committing to a fee.
