According to NBA Communications, James and the 76ers’ win over the New York Knicks set a new record for the most-watched primetime opening-night game, drawing an average of 7.71 million viewers and reaching a peak of 9.1 million at 9:45 p.m. ET.

Along with the Oklahoma City Thunder–San Antonio Spurs matchup, Tuesday's double-header game helped make the opening-night doubleheader the most-watched in NBA history, averaging 6.41 million viewers across NBC and Peacock.

On the night when the New York Knicks obtained their championship rings and raised their 2026 title banner, LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers crashed the party to pick up their first win of the 2026-27 season.

James helped Philadelphia spoil the Knicks' 2026 NBA championship party with a 106-100 massive win at Madison Square Garden.

Headlining the star-studded 76ers squad, James dropped 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting in 34 minutes. He also pulled down nine boards and dished out seven assists.

By winning his first-ever game as a Sixer, James also pulled off an epic career feat he never gained with his previous teams from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
