Puka Nacua Injury Update: Rams WR Leaves Practice Early

Puka Nacua missed Weeks 2 and 3 due to injury, and it appears as though the injury bug has bitten him again. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the BYU product quickly became one of the biggest draft steals in recent memory. Developing an immediate connection with quarterback Matthew Stafford, the rookie finished his inaugural campaign with 105 receptions for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns on 160 targets. While injuries limited him to just 11 games in 2024, he bounced back in 2025 by recording a league-best 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns. He made the second Pro Bowl of his career and earned First-Team All-Pro honors for his work.

There is no denying that Puka Nacua is one of the game’s best receivers, and the Rams will need him on the field to salvage their season. Unfortunately, the wide receiver left Thursday’s practice with a calf injury. The severity of the injury is not yet available to the public, but it’s safe to say this is not a positive development for the wideout.

Puka Nacua Injury Update: Rams WR Leaves Practice Early (Calf)

The Last Word

Needless to say, the Los Angeles Rams are at their best when Puka Nacua is on the field. If this calf injury turns out to be a serious issue, it could effectively spell the end of the Rams season.

Despite entering the season with Super Bowl aspirations and a so-called “dream team,” the Los Angeles Rams enter Week 7 in the basement of the NFC West with a 2-4 record. To make matters worse, star wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. If Puka Nacua misses time, Matthew Stafford won’t have a reliable weapon in the passing game. It’s hard to imagine head coach Sean McVay and the Rams selling at the trade deadline, but they may not have a choice.
