Donald Trump tips LeBron James over actions during U.S. national anthem
Donald Trump criticized LeBron James over his actions during the national anthem before the Philadelphia 76ers' opening-night game against the New York Knicks, accusing the NBA superstar of disrespecting the country and demanding an apology.
Video footage showed James continuing to warm up while the anthem was being performed at Madison Square Garden, whereas his teammates stood still.
In an X post, the U.S. president wrote: "While listening to our National Anthem, LeBron James disrespects our Country! I said right from the beginning that he's no good, a TOTAL DISGRACE.
"LeBron James should apologize to all of those Great American Warriors and Heroes who died for the American Flag, and all that our Country stands for!"
James has been a long-standing and vocal critic of Donald Trump, dating back to Trump's first presidency in 2017.
James recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists to help the 76ers secure a historic 114-106 comeback victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers in his Philadelphia home debut.
