CHICAGO — TreVeyon Henderson looked like one of the Patriots’ most exciting young players in moments last season, but on Thursday night [in a loss](https://www.bostonherald.com/2026/10/22/best-and-worst-what-we-learned-from-patriots-disappointing-30-24-loss-to-bears/) to the Bears, he became an afterthought.
Henderson played just 13 out of 53 offensive plays, per PFF’s in-game charting. He finished the contest with just three carries for 9 yards and two catches for 14 yards.
“We had some things for him, packages or personnel groupings,” head coach Mike Vrabel said. “TreVeyon will help us. Wanted to see where we were with Corey (Kiner) getting a couple carries too, but TreVeyon will help us plenty here down the stretch. He helped us a little bit tonight.”
Henderson ran into contact on second-and-9 with 9:12 left on the first quarter on a 5-yard carry. Drake Maye threw incomplete on third down, leading to a punt. Henderson didn’t see another touch until there was 7:36 left in the third quarter.
Rhamondre Stevenson carried the load with 67.9% of snaps and was one of the stars of the game, scoring on a 48-yard catch-and-run to finish out the first half. Stevenson finished with 115 yards on 11 touches. Kiner played six snaps and carried the ball four times for 13 yards.
Vrabel wasn’t happy overall with the rushing attack.
“Offensive productivity is we didn’t run the ball well enough, but we moved it however we needed to move it, which sometimes you’re going to have days like that,” Vrabel said. “I thought we’d be able to run it a little better than we did it. But then our best player is putting the ball in good spots most of the time and making good decisions. So, that’s how it goes. You’d like to move the ball a little better, but didn’t happen.”
Henderson was selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He had four touchdown runs of 50-plus yards last season and 15 plays of 15-plus yards.
Through seven games this season, Henderson’s [longest play](https://www.bostonherald.com/2026/09/20/treveyon-henderson-adds-needed-spark-in-return-to-patriots-offense/) was a 39-yard touchdown run in Week 2. That’s his only play of 15-plus yards all year.
The Patriots rushed 17 times for 70 yards with one touchdown in the Week 7 loss to the Bears. Maye led the team with 26 yards and a touchdown on four carries. He was the only player to average 4-plus yards per carry.
