Arsenal entertain Everton in Saturday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are on a two-match winning league streak since the international break and will be eyeing another victory over the Toffees tomorrow.
Ahead of the game, manager Mikel Arteta could make at least three changes with one of them likely to be enforced after Bukayo Saka’s quadriceps injury.
The England international suffered the setback without any contact, and he looks poised to be sidelined for a while, judging by the manager’s comments.
The first change will obviously come at right-back, with Ben White coming in for Jurrien Timber, who had a poor outing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Dutchman could have done better to restrict Alphonso Davies from scoring the equaliser (1-1), and he was also guilty of a handball, which led to the second-half penalty.
The £34 million signing does not appear fully upto speed after his nagging groin issue, and he looks poised to be replaced by White on the right side of defence.
The second change could come in central midfield.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was an unused substitute at Nottingham Forest last weekend and only came on in the 68th minute against Bayern, replacing Bruno Guimaraes.
The academy graduate provided the extra intensity and defensive solidity that was required, and could be given a starting opportunity ahead of Guimaraes.
Saka could be out for an extended period after his untimely setback in the 10th minute at the Allianz Arena. His injury means Noni Madueke could play on the right wing again.
Max Dowman is another solution for the manager on the right side of attack, but Arteta views him as a cameo solution and has not preferred to start him in the league and European games yet.
With Madueke on the right, Eberechi Eze could make the left wing position his own. The Englishman redeemed himself in midweek with a fantastic left-footed strike to open the scoring.
He had a forgettable outing at Nottingham Forest, where he was non-existent before his half-time substitution. Eze repaid the manager’s faith on Wednesday, delivering a brilliant all-round display.
The 28-year-old also won nine ground and aerial duels in Munich, and Arteta acknowledged that he had a ‘great game‘. He looks poised to start against David Moyes’ side tomorrow afternoon.
