Liverpool are currently in 5th place in the table, while Brighton are flying high up in 3rd and sit four points ahead of the Reds.
So can Liverpool close the gap a little or will Brighton's hot start continue?
Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
The last meeting between Liverpool and Brighton saw the Seagulls run out 2-1 winners. However, Liverpool have beaten Brighton in their last four matches against them at Anfield, and have not lost to them at home since February 2021.
Liverpool will come into this match on a three-game winning streak across all competitions, and in the Premier League, they mounted a comeback to beat nine-man Brentford 1-2 last weekend. Their most recent match was a wild 4-3 win over Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League.
Brighton also played in European action this week, but their UEFA Conference League match was not quite as exciting as Liverpool's clash with Villarreal. They drew 0-0 away at Czech side Jablonec, marking only the second time they have failed to score this season.
Indeed, no Premier League side has scored more goals than Brighton, as the Seagulls have hit 23 goals in their opening seven matches. Moreover, they also hold the joint-best defensive record in the competition, letting in five goals to date with only Arsenal able to match that.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have had some defensive issues to contend with this season. Not only have they conceded seven in three European matches, but they've also kept just one clean sheet at Anfield thus far, conceding five goals there in three matches.
Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion Prediction
A trip to Anfield is never easy for any side, but Brighton will definitely come into this match with plenty of confidence. After all, they've thrashed their last four Premier League opponents in a row, scoring fifteen goals and conceding none in turn.
However, the Seagulls will be less rested than Liverpool coming into this one, especially after travelling to Czechia, and it's probably fair to say that none of their last four opponents had the attacking prowess of the Reds.
Despite this, Liverpool's defensive issues mean that they will probably need to outscore Brighton to win, and whether they're capable of that is a question mark. The prediction is a score draw.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Brighton & Hove Albion
