Brighton could be handed a potential Yankuba Minteh boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday

Liverpool’s two bids for Yankuba Minteh were rejected by Brighton during the summer, before the Seagulls raised their valuation of the winger to £80 million.
The Reds opened with a £50 million offer, which Brighton turned down, before a second bid of £60 million met the same fate. Brighton’s asking price then rose rather than fell, pricing Liverpool out of a deal.
Liverpool moved on and secured Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain. Minteh, for his part, said only that his focus remained on Brighton when asked about the collapsed move.
Fabian Hurzeler has since suggested the door has not fully closed, hinting Liverpool’s interest could resurface if results keep going Brighton’s way.
Any renewed move depends first on Minteh returning from the leg injury that has kept him out since pre-season.
Minteh has not played a competitive minute this season, having been hurt in a friendly against Roma over the summer.
Hurzeler indicated last week, after Brighton’s 4-0 win over Kauno Zalgiris in the Conference League, that the winger could feature against Crystal Palace, though he stopped short of confirming it.
“With Yankuba Minteh and Mats Wieffer we could see quite a quick return,” Hurzeler said in his pre-Palace press conference, while adding that neither would be ready for that specific fixture.
Brighton won that game 5-0, continuing their strong start to the season, but Minteh remained unavailable.
He was absent again four days later as Brighton were held to a goalless draw by Jablonec in the Conference League, a result that ended a six-match winning run across all competitions.
Hurzeler made eight changes for that trip to the Czech Republic, and Minteh was not involved. Brighton’s injury list for the game also included Wieffer, Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Stefanos Tzimas, Pascal Struijk and deadline-day signing Femi Azeez.
The latest update offers more encouragement ahead of Sunday.
Minteh could have a chance of being involved against Liverpool.
Struijk also missed the Palace win with a thigh injury and remains a doubt for Anfield. Azeez is described as “getting closer” but is considered unlikely to feature so soon after his move from Millwall.
Brighton sit third in the Premier League, trailing only Manchester City and Arsenal, having scored 23 goals in their opening seven league matches.
They also top their Conference League group following the win over Kauno Zalgiris, before the draw in Jablonec checked their momentum.
Liverpool head into the weekend on the back of a 4-3 Champions League win over Villarreal at Anfield on Tuesday, coming from two goals down to make it three wins from three in the league phase.
At Anfield, Liverpool have won six of their last nine Premier League meetings with Brighton, with one defeat and two draws making up the remainder.
Should Minteh feature on Sunday, it would be his first competitive appearance of the season and his first since Liverpool’s interest in signing him went unresolved over the summer.
