According to reports, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has been taken to hospital by ambulance. It's said the Belgian collapsed after training today (Friday 2023).

The 40-year-old has been sick lately and was even at risk of missing Bayern's match against Arsenal during the week. Kompany was well enough, however, to attend the match as normal, watching on as his team drew 2-2 with the Gunners at home in the Champions League.

Just days before, though, he'd struggled to watch on as his team beat RB Leipzig 6-1 in the Bundesliga, reportedly needing to lie down at both half-time and after the match. A new worrying health update has now emerged.

Kompany Taken To Hospital Amid Recent Viral Infection

According to German outlet Bild, via Goal, Kompany was taken to a hospital in Munich after collapsing, and was accompanied by an emergency doctor. It's said that a helicopter reportedly landed at FCB's training ground on Säbener Straße.

The German giants have yet to provide further information or official confirmation.

Kompany has been suffering from a viral infection, and his ability to move around on the sidelines during last weekend’s match against RB Leipzig was even limited – although he was also dealing with a hip injury. He then missed the final training session and press conference before facing Arsenal in Europe.

After the draw, he told the press: "As a coach, you always want to do everything. I caught a pretty nasty virus last week, and of course I didn't listen to my body. Then, at some point, my body said: 'Now stop!'"

Ahead of the Arsenal game, assistant coach Aaron Danks had offered more of an insight into the health issues, noting: “So Vincent has had a virus and it has been really important that he rests and getting Vincent to rest is a difficult challenge but he is at home resting."

Having returned to the touchline for the Champions League, Kompany was then at training ahead of Bayern's weekend Bundesliga trip to Freiburg. It's unclear what his current condition is now after being taken to a hospital following the collapse.
