Liverpool team news and injury updates
The Reds have been bitten by the injury bug pretty hard to this point in the season. Everyday someone new seems to be added to the list. The newest additions are Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz. According to Andoni Iraola at his pre-match press conference, Barcola has missed several training sessions as a precaution while Munoz suffered a knock vs Villarreal in the midweek and the issue has worsened over time.
“Bradley has trained today normally. He’s fine with no problem,” Iraola said “It was just a matter of sometimes you have to deal with the loads and we consider sometimes they have to stay inside. But he’s fine. Victor, he has the knock he received against Brentford [in the] first half. He could finish the game very well. But he’s dealing with some pain since then and it was too early the other day against Villarreal. I don’t know if he’s going to arrive. I think it’s going to be difficult but I really don’t know.”
Iraola also added that Dominik Szoboszlai has been ruled out for the match, but he does not think the versatile Hungarian is too far away from making a return to the pitch.

The Seagulls Taking Flight
As mentioned, Brighton are enjoying early-season success. There are several reasons behind this strong start that includes wins over Arsenal and Manchester United. In fact, the only defeat in all competitions is a 3-2 loss to Chelsea in EPL play. Boss Fabian Hurzeler has brought a high-pressing style to the club that keeps supporters on the edge of their seats and goals flying in the back of the net, averaging nearly 2.5 goals per game.
German Midfielder Pascal Groß leads the attack with 7 goals in 10 matches so far. Defensively, Dutch goalie Bart Verbruggen has been outstanding between the pipes as he has 7 clean sheets in 9 starts so far, with 26 saves and a save percentage of just over 80 percent.
Reds Must Control Midfield
There are a couple to look out for. Since Brighton are a high pressing team and the Reds like to build out of the back, Liverpool’s back line not only have to focus on defending, but also on delivering solid passes to start the attack moving forward. That means Virgil van Dijk, who struggled mightily vs. Villarreal will have to play better. The other key is winning possession in the midfield. With Szoboszlai out, that task falls to Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. If they can win the midfield duels with Pascal Groß , he can’t get touches on the ball and keep him from scoring.
Head-to-head record and recent meetings
Liverpool have won 4 of their last 6 meetings vs. Brighton, but the Seagulls did emerge victorious in the last meeting at home 2-1 on March 21st, 2026. In all, the clubs have met 46 times with Liverpool victorious in 25 of those matches.

LFC Globe Verdict and score prediction
I expect a high-scoring match. As noted earlier, Brighton score nearly 2.5 goals per game and Liverpool have surrendered 6 goals in their last two. It all comes down to if the Reds can control the midfield and break Brighton’s high press. If we can do that, Liverpool should take a well-earned three points.
LFC Globe Predicts: Liverpool 4–2 Brighton
3 points for the exact final score, otherwise 1 for the correct outcome or 0. No stacking. Entry closes at kickoff. Cancelled and awarded matches are void; suspended or postponed matches await confirmation. No prizes.
