On Thursday, Page Six and TMZ reported that former ESPN star and current U.S. State Department press adviser Britt McHenry tossed a drink at a heckling fan during a “heated confrontation” at Wednesday night’s game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards.

Per Page Six, McHenry was attending the game at Capital One Arena in D.C. with a male friend and the pair was seated in front of a group of men who began taunting Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma, who is engaged to model and actress Winnie Harlow.

“They were saying he plays terribly because his girlfriend’s ugly,” a source told the outlet, adding that the “loud and obnoxious” men said other “terrible” things about Harlow.

Then, McHenry reportedly confronted the heckler and asked him to “ease up,” but instead he began harassing her.

“The guy then allegedly began hurling “misogynistic” comments toward the former Fox contributor and even “threw a drink on her,” Page Six said.

TMZ apparently has video footage of McHenry, 40, who also had been drinking, responding “by throwing a drink” at the man.

It didn’t take long for the Trump administration to respond to Thursday’s incident. Page Six reported on Friday that McHenry was “forced to resign” on Thursday. The outlet also reported that she had been promoted to a new role leading External Affairs & Press for under secretary Jacob Helberg’s team on Wednesday, the same day threw a drink at the fan.

She was forced to resign [over the incident],” a source told Page Six. “She was promoted and fired within 24 hours.”

A spokesperson for the Department of State told the outlet, “We do not comment on internal personnel matters.”

This isn’t McHenry’s first viral incident. Back in 2015, while working for ESPN, she was infamously suspended from the Worldwide Leader after getting caught berating a towing employee.

“Do you feel good about your job? So I could be a college dropout and do the same thing? Why, ’cause I have a brain, and you don’t?” she ranted after her car had been towed. “Maybe if I was missing some teeth, they would hire me, huh? … ‘Cause I’m on television, and you’re in a f–king trailer, honey.”

At the time McHenry apologized for the incident, but in 2024, she claimed the viral video of the altercation had been “highly edited” and “highly doctored.”
