Security escorted McHenry from her seats at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., after she allegedly confronted fans who were becoming loud and obnoxious. Video of the incident showed a drink being thrown at McHenry as she left her seat with security, prompting the former Fox News and ESPN host to retaliate by throwing a beverage back at the fan.
Page Six reported the incident began when McHenry asked fans to “ease up” on heckling former Wizard and current Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma. One fan allegedly incited the situation by saying misogynistic things to McHenry before throwing a drink at her. Another witness claims McHenry threw a burger at a fan before spectators began recording the incident. Security arrived soon after, and video shows McHenry being escorted from her seat to the arena exit, although TMZ reported she opted to leave on her own.
She may have decided to leave the NBA game, but Page Six now reports she was forced out of the Trump administration after the viral incident.
McHenry was hired as a press advisor last month, and reportedly earned a promotion Wednesday before the Wizards-Bucks game. But the promotion to lead External Affairs & Press on Jacob Helberg’s team lasted less than 24 hours, and McHenry had already signed her resignation letter.
