Jake LaRavia is trending in a promising direction despite being out for the Los Angeles Lakers' Friday game against the LA Clippers with his ankle injury.
JJ Redick announced in pregame that LaRavia could play by Sunday against the Utah Jazz or on their Tuesday matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
"We talked to him this morning before shootaround, and he was going to try to give it a go. He went to the treatment room and it’s just not there," Redick told reporters.
"He’s hopeful he can be back Sunday, if not Tuesday."
Jake LaRavia suffers ankle sprain in Lakers season opener
Jake LaRavia sprained his right ankle late in the game during the Los Angeles Lakers' 127–105 season-opening victory against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old forward was officially downgraded from questionable to out for Friday's cross-town showdown against the LA Clippers.
With Redick giving plenty of positive words about LaRavia's progress, the Lakers can only hope that the wing can heal and be available as soon as possible.
Ziaire Williams, Matisse Thybulle, Quentin Grimes, and Adou Thiero are poised for increased minutes with LaRavia unavailable against the Clippers.
