After tasting their first defeat of this season in the UEFA Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona are set to return to action in La Liga as [they are set to face their bitter rivals Real Madrid](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/jules-kounde-misses-barcelona-training-as-el-clasico-absence-looms/) at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday.
This is inarguably going to be one of the most important games of the season for both the teams. A win would put the Catalans nine points ahead of their most likely contenders for the league title at this early stage of the season.
Several Blaugrana players have commented on this upcoming El Clasico in recent hours. As [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20261023/1004242446/gavi-me-gusta-guerra-clasicos.html) has reported, one such player is the midfielder Gavi, who spoke to DAZN, and assured that he would be particularly keen to go into this game:
**“The manager’s ideas are very important, and players need to be clear about what they have to do in matches. But I’m one of those players who really enjoys going to war in Clásicos.”**
The Spaniard was clear that his team will give no quarters to the Merengues:
**“We’re going to give everything from the very start. We’re all Barcelona fans, and we all always want to beat Real Madrid.”**
Overall, the midfielder was sure that this match was going to be quite a spectacle for the fans:
**“It’s going to be a great match for the spectators.”**
However, Gavi was not losing sight of what ultimately matters:
**“The most important thing for us is to take all three points, no matter what.”**
Although Gavi puts all his heart out whenever he takes to the pitch for Barcelona, he is particularly passionate when playing against Real Madrid. He is quite unlikely to start the game on Sunday, and it remains to be seen whether Hansi Flick will give him some minutes off the bench.
