Curtis Jones spent 16 years at Liverpool after joining the club’s academy as a nine-year-old, eventually working his way into the first team and becoming a familiar face at Anfield.

The midfielder made 228 senior appearances for the Reds, scoring 22 goals and providing 22 assists. He also collected six major trophies, including two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup.

However, after struggling to secure a regular starting place during his final season on Merseyside, Jones decided it was time for a new challenge.

Inter Milan completed his signing in the summer, bringing an end to his long association with his boyhood club.

The 25-year-old has made a steady start to life in Italy, featuring in Serie A and getting used to a new league.

He has shown his quality but he is still working towards securing a regular place in Inter’s starting line-up with a recently suffered adductor injury halting his progress.

Now, in an interview with DAZN that was published yesterday but recorded in September, Jones has once again spoken about Liverpool, explaining how his time at Anfield helped shape his decision to join the Italian giants.

The former Liverpool midfielder believes there is more to his game than goals and assists, insisting that his work on the pitch is appreciated by those around him.

“I know football these days is all about goals, assists, and stats like that. I might not score as many goals as others, but I do a lot of other things on the pitch that my teammates and staff notice and appreciate,” Jones said.

“I want to help the team and show the best version of myself.”

Jones also explained how Liverpool’s Champions League meeting with Inter played a part in his decision to move to Italy.

Despite Liverpool winning the game, the midfielder was impressed by the atmosphere at the San Siro and the connection between Inter’s players and supporters.

“When we played Inter in the Champions League, we won the game, but I immediately noticed the connection between the players and the fans,” he added.

“Liverpool and I have always had this kind of special bond with the fans, our twelfth man on the pitch. I think the same thing applies to those who love Inter. So it was an easy choice.”

It is clear that the relationship between a club and its supporters means a lot to Jones, who grew up supporting Liverpool before becoming part of the first team.

Now, he will be hoping to build a similar connection with Inter’s fans while helping the club compete for more silverware.

His latest comments also show that, despite moving on from Anfield, Liverpool remains an important part of his footballing journey.
