Colts’ Jonathan Taylor Trade Predicted to Net 2027 First-Round Pick With One Catch 1
Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts are having a bad start to the season. They recently lost to the Tennessee Titans in their Week 6 matchup with a 26-20 score. The franchise has only two wins and four losses so far this season.
With the team struggling on the field, they are prepared to take steps to reverse that. They are now ready to make a huge decision on Taylor’s future with the Colts.
Colts want to trade Jonathan Taylor for draft capital
The Colts have taken a huge step and have already dismissed general manager Chris Ballard following their underwhelming 2-4 start. They are now planning to make some changes to the roster ahead of the November 10 trade deadline. They are going to trade players as they are in need of significant draft capital.

According to NFL insider Evan Sidery, star player Taylor has emerged as the team’s main trade asset capable of getting them draft picks. A good reason for the decision lies in the fact that the franchise currently has a depleted draft inventory. They do not currently own their 2027 first-round draft pick, having packaged it to the New York Jets in a prior blockbuster deal for cornerback Sauce Gardner. Trading Taylor could be a chance for the team to regain a 2027 first-round selection, which can help rebuild their roster.
However, any potential trade will involve a special catch. As Taylor signed a multi-year contract extension, a trade would force the Colts to absorb a $10 million dead money hit on their 2027 salary cap. Sidery added that the Colts may have to offer a pick alongside the player in any trade discussions.
Many teams have already shown interest in getting the running back, who has impressed this season. The player himself has talked about the trade rumors surrounding him.
Jonathan Taylor addresses trade rumors
According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, many teams wish to trade for Taylor. The player has been leading in many statistics this season. He has 492 yards and seven touchdowns from 122 carries so far this season. Only Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has more rushing touchdowns than him.
When asked about the trade rumors, Taylor kept it professional. He said, “I haven’t given any thought. That’d be crazy right now, especially because we’ve got a great Minnesota Vikings team that we have to go against. I think it would be a discredit and a disservice to my teammates and this whole organization to think about what could, what should, what may be.”
It remains to be seen if the Colts manage to trade Jonathan Taylor ahead of the trade deadline. For now, he will prepare for the next game against the Minnesota Vikings.
