Despite speculation that he could lose his job as the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns soon, a new report claims Arch Manning is still viewed by some talent evaluators as the No.1 QB in the 2027 NFL Draft.

There have been few more hyped college football players than Manning. It is what comes with being the latest generation of a football family featuring Archie and Peyton Manning. Unfortunately, he has not had the same success in college as his grandfather and uncle.

When he had up and down moments in his sophomore season, it was chalked up to a player that was still developing. However, in year three at Texas he has not taken a leap forward in his progress as a quarterback. It has played a role in the Longhorns surprising 4-2 record and has created speculation that his position as the QB1 is on shaky ground.

After projections over the last year suggested he would be the first QB taken in the 2027 draft, many assume other players like Darian Mensah and CJ Carr have passed him on draft boards this year. Well, maybe not.

During a new chat with The Ringer, Tom Pelissero claimed when talking to a veteran talent evaluator that he trusted, that scout still saw Manning as the No. 1 QB prospect in the 2027 class because it was still just six games into the college football season.

That view is sure to surprise many but it shows that while Manning’s performance in 2027 has worried many, it hasn’t changed what scouts see in him as a QB at the next level.

However, is he still a lock to go to the NFL next year? That seemed like a guarantee for months, but the NFL insider also claimed that when he asked a source close to Manning where he thinks he will be in 2027, the person said he will instead enter the transfer portal and play at the same school as his grandfather and uncle Eli Manning, Ole Miss.
