Sean McVay, Rams Get Encouraging Myles Garrett Update Amid Injury Woes 1

Myles Garrett is not having a good beginning to life at the Los Angeles Rams. The former Cleveland Browns star arrived to the franchise this season and was expected to make a big impact, with the Rams being labelled Super Bowl contenders.

However, the Rams had a poor start to the season with a 2-4 record, and Garrett also sustained an injury in the season-opening game. But there is now one good news regarding the defensive end.

Myles Garrett expected to practice next week

Garrett has been sidelined on injured reserve since the Week 1 opening game against the San Francisco 49ers. He had a left knee injury that he sustained during training camp and played through clear physical discomfort during 46 defensive snaps in that game. This aggravated his issue and he had to undergo a corrective arthroscopic surgery after that game. He has missed all five games since then, with the Rams struggling to perform.

The franchise has now received a significant medical update regarding Garrett. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that the edge rusher is expected to return to practice next week, marking his first team football activities in approximately seven weeks.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he said, “I was told for Myles Garrett that it is likely to return to practice next week. Could potentially play Week 8, but Myles Garrett likely returning to practice next week.” Head coach Sean McVay will be happy to know that a crucial player will be available for playing soon enough.

Despite this projection, Garrett is officially ruled out for the upcoming Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The team has decided to not trigger his mandatory 21-day practice evaluation window early. If everything goes well, the player could make his return in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers or Week 9 against the Washington Commanders. There is no certainty regarding his potential return as of now.

Even though he has not been playing, Garrett recently got into some trouble with the NFL.

Myles Garrett’s apparel issue with NFL

Garrett wore a Nike Jumpman tracksuit on the sideline during the game against the Buffalo Bills that did not align with team colors. League rules require players and coaches on the sideline to wear gear matching their team’s branding, despite Nike’s official partnership with the NFL.

The NFL objected to the outfit but chose to issue a warning to Garrett and the Rams instead of a fine. Garrett adjusted for the following game against the Arizona Cardinals, wearing a logo-free outfit consisting of a plain white T-shirt and gray shorts.

He continues to work through his injury recovery, while the Rams prepare to face the Raiders next.
