Ravens’ Offensive Struggles Under the Spotlight Ahead of Crucial Bengals Showdown 1

The Baltimore Ravens face mounting pressure to improve offensively as they prepare to host the Cincinnati Bengals. Their latest performance against the Cleveland Browns exposed significant problems, leaving the team searching for answers before a crucial divisional showdown.

The Ravens managed just 10 points in their road loss to the Browns, with Tyler Huntley starting at quarterback. Now, questions remain about whether Lamar Jackson will return for Sunday’s game, adding uncertainty to the Ravens’ offensive preparations.

Willie Colon Highlights the Ravens’ Offensive Challenge

Sports analyst Willie Colon believes the offense must respond with a much stronger performance. His assessment reflects the urgency surrounding a unit that cannot afford another disappointing outing against a divisional rival. While speaking ahead of the Bengals-Ravens matchup, Colon emphasized the importance of Baltimore rediscovering its offensive production.

“It’s gonna be imperative for this Ravens offense to pop off the tape and really put some points on the board.”

Colon’s comments underline the challenge facing Baltimore. The Ravens cannot rely solely on their defense to keep games competitive. They need their offense to sustain drives, protect possession, and convert opportunities into points.

Their loss to the Browns highlighted those concerns. Baltimore struggled to generate enough offense with Huntley under center, while mistakes further complicated its efforts to secure a victory. Running back Derrick Henry’s costly fumble in the fourth quarter proved particularly damaging, as the Ravens eventually fell to a walk-off field goal.

Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle also acknowledged that the performance fell short of the team’s expectations. According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Doyle reviewed 25 plays with players the following day to address the mistakes. That film session reflects the work required to correct Baltimore’s problems before the Bengals arrive. Among other things, the coaching staff must identify where execution broke down and ensure those errors do not become recurring issues.

The offensive line presents another concern. Injuries and availability problems have disrupted the unit’s continuity, making it harder to establish consistency in protection and blocking. Cam Jurgens’ potential return could provide some stability, although his availability alone will not resolve every issue affecting the offense.

Jackson’s status also remains important. His absence would change Baltimore’s offensive approach, placing greater responsibility on Huntley to manage possessions and deliver productive drives. However, Huntley has shown he can lead the offense effectively, giving the Ravens reason to remain hopeful if Jackson cannot return.

Still, the Bengals matchup offers little room for complacency. Baltimore needs a cleaner performance from its offensive line, better ball security, and more effective execution in key situations. The Ravens must also take advantage of scoring opportunities rather than allowing mistakes to undermine their efforts.

Colon’s warning captures the central issue facing Baltimore. The Ravens need to demonstrate that the Browns loss was a setback they can learn from, not a sign of deeper offensive problems. With a divisional opponent approaching, a stronger showing could help restore confidence. Another ineffective performance, however, would intensify questions about the team’s ability to compete consistently while dealing with uncertainty at quarterback and along the offensive line.
