Chelsea
As per latest transfer news, Chelsea are monitoring Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari as his contract talks stall. Galatasaray are also tracking the Sweden international, and interest from other clubs keeps growing.
Where Ayari’s contract talks stand
Yasin Ayari turned 23 this month, and his deal at the Amex Stadium runs until June 2027. Brighton can extend it by 12 months, but as reported by TEAMtalk, they had not yet done so. His camp expected the club to use that option, and talks over new terms began before the summer. They have not led to an agreement yet, so other clubs have started to take notice.
The picture may be changing, though. Newer updates say Brighton are working hard on a new deal and plan to use the option soon. Using it would protect his value, but it only delays the bigger decision by a year. Without it, he could agree a free move with a club abroad from January. Under football rules, he can sign a pre-contract abroad once his deal has six months left. Newcastle United and Fenerbahce have also been linked with him. That makes the race busier than it first looked.
Ayari’s 2026/27 stats for Brighton so far, as per FOTMOB:

EFL Cup 1 0 – – –
Why Chelsea keep returning to Brighton for talent
Chelsea have a long history of signing players from Brighton. A dozen or more players and staff have made the move. Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro are the best known examples. Paul Winstanley, the Chelsea sporting director, knows Yasin Ayari well. He led the scouting team at Brighton until November 2022, and he helped spot the midfielder’s talent back then. For now, Chelsea look to be planning for future windows rather than preparing an offer.
Chelsea will face competition, as several Premier League clubs are also said to be watching him. Some interest could come from abroad, though. Galatasaray are still keen after their summer approach. The Turkish club have also tracked Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, but see Ayari as younger and cheaper. They are said to be waiting to see whether a chance to sign him opens up. Saudi Pro League clubs have made enquiries too. Interest from England, Turkey and Saudi Arabia strengthens Ayari’s position as talks continue.
What Yasin Ayari offers on the pitch
Ayari has become one of the most key players in Fabian Hurzeler’s side. The Sweden international works as a creative link in midfield, and much of Brighton’s best football runs through him. He connects defence and attack, which helps the team build play with control. That role is hard to fill in a side built on passing and movement.
Brighton’s start shows why that matters. They sit third in the Premier League with 16 points from seven games. They have won five, drawn one and lost one. That means Brighton have taken 16 of a possible 21 points, a return of just over 76 percent. Chelsea are fourth on 13 points, so Brighton hold a place in the top four. That makes Chelsea a direct rival on the pitch as well as in the transfer market. Brighton will want to keep a player so central to that run. With the option still to be used, the next update on his deal will be watched closely across football.
