Liverpool are best placed to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to reports. The England international enjoyed a breakout campaign last season and was subject to immense interest from the Premier League's best.

Chelsea tried to sign him in the summer, but Bournemouth were determined to hold onto him. Nevertheless, he has been tipped for a move in January, with the Reds being identified as a potential club for him.

In addition, Paris Saint-Germain are also listed as amongst the contenders to sign him, particularly after star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia picked up a serious injury recently.

He is currently nursing a hamstring injury which was suffered while on international duty with the Three Lions. Scott has not made a Premier League appearance since the Reds travelled to the Vitality Stadium and left with a 1-0 away victory.

Bournemouth are determined to commit him to a new deal to swat away Premier League and European heavyweights. The Cherries rejected a £64m bid from Chelsea in the summer and other approaches from different teams.

It's understood they will consider a sale in January if they're confident of avoiding relegation, but a bid of around £100m may be required. Bournemouth owner Bill Foley recently laid out the club's position in regards to flogging him.

He said to talkSPORT: "At this point, we're convinced we're the right place for Alex to be and to stay, and we'll keep on addressing the contract issues with Alex as we move through this year.

"We'd love to have Alex stay here and sign a new contract and be part of this team for the long haul. We haven't given up, but sometimes players get stars in their eyes, and they think that Chelsea or Manchester City is the right place to go.

“We believe, if we keep on buying infrastructure and a common thread of leadership across the team then we will start keeping more and more players. People will be surprised about that, and they'll be able to earn substantial wages here.”
