Arsenal U21s are still awaiting their first league victory of the season following a 4-1 defeat away to their Leicester City counterparts today.

Although substitute Ceadach O’Neill found the net it was a disappointing result for David Horseman’s team, who have taken just four points from six games this season.

Marli Salmon captained the side and played the first 45 minutes, with Horseman again electing to rotate his side.

U18s players Maalik Hashi and Angelinou Pedro were named amongst the substitutes, with the latter receiving his first callup at this level this season.

Arsenal were without centre-back Elijah Upson due to injury, while former Gunner Bless Akolbire was named on the bench for Leicester.

Luqman Aideed gave Leicester the lead with just five minutes gone.

Salmon was booked in the closing stages of the first half and was replaced at the break by Marcell Washington in what appeared to be a pre-planned change.

Leicester continued to dominate in the second half, with Lorenz Hutchinson and Hugo De Lisle finding the net.

Arsenal responded with a triple change that saw Igor Tyjon, O’Neill and Andre Harriman-Annous all come on.

Leicester added a fourth goal courtesy of Admir Bristric and although O’Neill netted for Arsenal with his first goal of the season there was no way back for the young Gunners.

Arsenal U21s are languishing in 24th place out of 31 teams in Premier League 2, with the constant rotation making it difficult to build up any cohesion.

Next up for Arsenal is a trip to face AFC Wimbledon in their final EFL Trophy group game.
