Palmer sent off as Spurs secure rare win at Stamford Bridge

Spurs celebrate against Chelsea

Tottenham secured a 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge thanks to a Mike Penders own goal and a late Mathys Tel strike.

Spurs had the better chances in a tight first half, with Omar Marmoush denied from close range by Penders.

The breakthrough finally came in the 77th minute when Penders turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Jan Paul van Hecke following a corner.

Chelsea’s task became even harder three minutes later when Cole Palmer was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Tel then sealed the victory late on, carrying the ball forward before finishing low into the corner to wrap up the points for Roberto De Zerbi’s side and give the club a rare win on enemy territory.
