With the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, the team has been dealing with injuries to many key players, including star wide receiver DeVonta Smith. As many players are on the Eagles' injury report, especially ahead of the primetime matchup, Smith's status for the game has been revealed.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Smith has been “ruled out” for the key NFC East contest against the Cowboys, as the 27-year-old has been dealing with a lingering hamstring injury.
“Eagles ruled out WR DeVonta Smith for Monday night’s game vs. Dallas,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Nick Sirianni on the potential to shut down Eagles' DeVonta Smith
Smith is set to miss his third game of the season for the Eagles with the hamstring injury, as so far this season, he's recorded 26 catches for 310 yards and two touchdowns. Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni was asked Saturday about the potential to shut down Smith as the hamstring injury continues to be an issue.
“I just want him to continue to get better. We'll see where that goes,” Sirianni said, via the team. “He works extremely hard. Nobody takes care of their body like DeVonta Smith. He is such a good example to everybody of how to take care of yourself. He's the first one in here getting treatment, doing his prehab before a practice, and sometimes the process doesn't always produce the results you want.”
“But that's what you can control, and that's what's ultimately going to make you be at the best that you can be,” Sirianni continued. “So it's been unfortunate there, but we'll see where he is. I do love how he goes about his business, and regardless of the outcome, I know DeVonta Smith well enough that he'll continue to go through his process, because that's what's made him the player that he has been.”
