Liverpool undoubtedly face one of their hardest tests this season when they host high-flying Brighton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon just as Storm Boelo hits Merseyside.
Football across the country has been impacted by adverse weather conditions and The Met Office issued a fresh update on the forecast heading into Sunday’s fixture at Anfield.
Met Office issue yellow weather warning in Liverpool
Sunday morning’s weather forecast for Liverpool includes a yellow weather warning, which will run until 9pm GMT. The Met Office say: “Strong winds continue as Storm Boelo slowly clears away.”

The impact is said to be “significant” and the likelihood of at least some disruption across the northern parts of the UK is rated at 25-50%.
As of Sunday morning, there was no suggestion that the Liverpool vs Brighton Premier League fixture would be postponed, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm GMT. BBC’s weather forecast for Sunday morning predicts a daily highest gust of 55mph with a 40% chance of rain at the scheduled kick-off time.
Cancelled and postponed events in Liverpool due to Storm Boelo
The Merseyside region of the UK has been impacted, like large parts of the north of the UK in recent days. Liverpool City Council confirmed that Saturday’s River of Light festival, celebrating 13 illuminated artworks across the city’s waterfront and centre, had been cancelled due to safety concerns.
Football fixtures played on council-owned grass pitches were also cancelled on Saturday, while Liverpool Cathedral remained closed on Sunday. Sunday’s Halloween Family Fun Day at Aintree Racecourse was confirmed as cancelled at 7am GMT on the morning of Liverpool‘s clash against Brighton after winds in the area reportedly reached as high as 44mph overnight.
