Arteta gathering evidence on rival Premier League managers as he calls for new technology

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta is one of the most passionate bosses in the Premier League, buzzing around inside, or often outside, his technical area.

The Arsenal manager never stands still, racing around the area near the dugout - so much so, that he was punished on Saturday.

Arteta was shown a yellow card in the second half of his side's 2-0 win over Everton at the Emirates for leaving his technical area.

And that comes as no surprise for those who keep an eye on the Spaniard, who regularly encroaches past the white lines.

But when asked about the booking, which was his second of the season so far, Arteta defended himself by revealing some bizarre research into his rivals.

Arteta reveals manager investigation

"I do have to be careful," Arteta admitted in his press conference before claiming he has collected evidence of other Premier League managers doing the same as he did without being booked.

"There are managers that have the record in the league - 36 times in 10 minutes leaving the touchline, no yellows.

"I'm clipping all of that. I have a massive storage of images.

"So if somebody comes to me I can say: 'I'm not in the record yet, somebody else has the record'.

"Then it's 36 yellow cards in 10 minutes for the managers. I don't know what we're going to do. Let's see."

Arteta also mentioned that he wants to see some new technology added to the technical area to prevent breaches.

"We need to have good sensors there," he stated.

What else did Arteta say on Saturday?

As well as admitting he'd been investigating his fellow Premier League bosses, Arteta discussed the win over Everton.

"We’re very happy with the victory, the performance and the week, because we were given a terrible schedule," he said.

"Playing Sunday afternoon, then Wednesday night in Munich, coming here really late on Thursday and then having to play again in the Premier League against a really tough opponent on Saturday at 3pm.

"We have overcome some injuries, and I’m really proud of the mentality of the team in the conditions today."

One of the injuries he mentioned was to Bukayo Saka, who sat out at the 2-0 victory of the Emirates with his issues.

And Arteta told talkSPORT post-match that Saka is going to be out for 'weeks' amid reports he could be sidelined for two months.
