The New York Jets star running back Breece Hall's recent return to practice had already raised fans' hopes of seeing him back on the field for the upcoming matchup against the Miami Dolphins. However, the latest update has delivered a disappointing outlook for fans eagerly awaiting his return.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the star running back is unlikely to suit up for the Jets' Week 7 matchup.
“Jets star RB Breece Hall, attempting to return from a quad strain after missing three games, is unlikely to play today, sources say. He may work out to see if he can go, but Hall hasn’t been a full participant yet. It's a bit early,” the report read.
Hall has been out of action since sustaining the injury during the New York Jets' Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions. The running back suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the game.
Hall went down while trying to move the ball forward near the goal line, immediately grabbing the outer part of his right thigh and hip area. He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game, forcing Braelon Allen to take over in the backfield.
Hall concluded the game with 13 carries for 32 rushing yards, along with three receptions for 23 yards. Across his first three games of the 2026 season, the five-year NFL veteran recorded 51 carries for 163 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding 10 receptions for 102 yards.

Meanwhile, Allen has performed well in Hall's absence. The running back recorded more than 41 carries for 194 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 26 receiving yards.
However, the Jets would prefer to have all their offensive weapons available for the matchup. A pregame evaluation could offer further clarity regarding Hall's availability, but his status remains uncertain until the team makes its final decision.
If Hall cannot suit up, Allen is expected to have another opportunity to lead the Jets' backfield. Even if Hall manages to return, New York could limit his workload as he continues working his way back from the injury.
