Arsenal had a nice 4-2 win over Everton yesterday, but the Gunners did not come out unscathed. Defender and Italian international Riccardo Calafiori obviously suffered an injury of some sort on Saturday, and while manager Mikel Arterta conveyed that his problem is pretty minor, don’t expect to see Calafiori on Tuesday night in the League Cup. Arsenal head to Fleetwood Town, for the midweek cup clash, and this is an opponent who resides in League Two (the fourth tier in the FA pyramid).

With that in mind, we won’t see Christos Tzolis back in action this midweek either. He’s nearing a full recovery from his hamstring injury, but no need to risk him in a match like this. When you play a lower division side like this, you just give the squad guys a run out instead.

Elsewhere William Saliba remains sidelined until after the internationals while Bukayo Saka is going to be out longer than that.

“He’s got another MRI this afternoon because he had quite a lot of fluid in the area,” Arteta said on Friday, in reference to Saka’s thigh injury.

“So it was difficult to understand the extent of the injury. But we will know more probably tomorrow. We need a few more scans and opinions from the specialists.”

We probably won’t see him again until sometime in December, at the earliest.
