CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Carolina Panthers were embarrassed on their home field Sunday, as they got blown out by the NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay trounced Carolina 43-13, and outplayed the Panthers in all three phases of the game.

The Panthers turned the ball over four times. Three of those turnovers were committed by Bryce Young.

Young’s first turnover was a fumble where he took a big hit as he was throwing. The second was on an interception where his receiver slipped, and the third fell into a Buccaneers’ hands after the pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage.

He did throw a long touchdown pass, but it turned out to be completely inconsequential.

Turnovers aside, Carolina showed zero ability to stop Tampa Bay’s rushing attack, led by running back Bucky Irving. As a team, the Buccaneers ran for 258 yards, 106 of which came from Irving.

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield only had to throw the ball 11 times because his team’s run game was so dominant.

With the loss, the Panthers watched their lead in the NFC South shrink.

The Panthers don’t have time to dwell on Sunday’s debacle, though, as they have a Thursday Night Football matchup coming up in just four days on Oct. 29 against the Green Bay Packers.
