They say never fall in love with a loan signing. But sadly for Liverpool supporters when it comes to Ronald Araujo, it is far too late.
The Uruguayan has swiftly become a fan favourite at Anfield since signing on a season-long loan from Barcelona. But Araujo further endeared himself to Reds fans with his all action and fully-committed performance in the 2-0 Premier League win at home to fellow high flyers Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
There was the crucial role he played in the opening goal and there was the thunderous challenge on Malick Yalcouye that left the Liverpool faitful roaring in approval. And, brilliantly, there was the moment when he attempted to head the ball clear while laying prone on the turf.
The big question on supporters' lips now is whether the Reds should sign Araujo on a permanent basis. They have the £47m option to do exactly that at the end of the season.

Araujo recently addressed the talk in an interview with The Times: “It’s far too early to talk about that. I want to thank everyone for the affection they’ve shown me because it’s helped me enormously. But I also want to make one thing clear: whether I stay at Liverpool or not isn’t entirely up to me.”
So, if it was up to you, would you activate the clause to sign Araujo on a £47m permanent basis? You can have your say in our poll below:
