Arsenal are reportedly considering opening talks with David Raya over a new contract, following his recent comments about his desire to play in La Liga in the future.
The 31-year-old has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is among Mikel Arteta’s most important players.
During an interview with Marca last week, Raya opened the door to a move to his native Spain and La Liga later in his career.
“Yes, I would love to. I would love to try out LaLiga. For now, I’m very happy here [at Arsenal], but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league.
“I think it’s a very competitive league. Perhaps, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I’m Spanish, and I’d love to play there — that’s for sure.”
Now, Arsenal are keen to extend the Spaniard’s contract.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal could look to open talks with David Raya over a new deal.
It is claimed that the Gunners are keen to keep Raya for at least another two seasons.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke said:

“They were interesting comments. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a Spanish player would be interested in a move to his homeland at some point in his career…
“I don’t think Arsenal will be too concerned. He’s under contract until 2028 and I’m sure they probably will look to sit down and discuss a new deal with him because he’s the undisputed number one under Arteta, and I think he will be for the foreseeable future.”
His current deal at the Emirates runs until the summer of 2028.
Raya has continued his impressive form this season, keeping five clean sheets in eight Premier League appearances as Arsenal look to defend their title. The Spaniard has conceded just five league goals so far, underlining his importance to Arteta’s defensive setup.

The goalkeeper also won the Premier League Golden Glove award in both the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. Having established himself as Arsenal’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, Raya remains a crucial part of the club’s long-term plans.
