Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Arsenal's cup clash against Fleetwood Town this week could be at threat of a potential postponement due to continued adverse weather.

Storm Austen and Storm Boelo may have now passed, but there are still some horrible conditions battering the UK.

Liverpool were forced to confirm their clash against Brighton was still going ahead on Sunday amid some woeful weather over the weekend.

Meanwhile, multiple National League matches were called off, including Barrow vs Forest Green.

The pitch for that game became severely waterlogged just 14 minutes into the match due to the monster storm.

There are hopes that this week's action in the Carabao Cup fourth round and the EFL won't be affected by the conditions.

However, weather warnings remain in place in Northern England and Scotland, so there is still a chance of postponements.

And Premier League champions Arsenal could be impacted...

Could Fleetwood vs Arsenal be postponed?

Extreme wet and windy weather is forecast to sweep across the UK at the start of this week before things finally calm down.

Arsenal face a trip to Fleetwood, live on talkSPORT, on Tuesday evening with Met Office warnings still in place in the North.

Yellow warnings for wind remain on the North West Coast of England, which is exactly where Fleetwood is located.

According to the forecast, the worst conditions will be just off the coast, but they could still impact the town.

Safety assessments are sure to be made ahead of the match, with a potential pitch inspection done if wet conditions arrive.

The match official will then decide whether the game will go ahead if a decision has not been made beforehand.

After the weather in Barrow-in-Furness called off Barrow's match, there will be concerns that similar conditions will impact Fleetwood, which is just 16 miles across Morecambe Bay.

What other matches could be impacted?

As well as Fleetwood vs Arsenal, a Carabao Cup tie between Bradford vs Peterborough also takes place on Tuesday evening.

Warnings for the North of England are still in place, but as the worst of the conditions are expected to the North West, the game in Bradford should be okay to go ahead.

Meanwhile, Sunderland, Liverpool and Everton are all in cup action across Wednesday and Thursday night.

There are also EFL, National League and Scottish football matches schedule throughout the week.

Thankfully, the Met Office's yellow warnings for wind are not currently being extended past Tuesday so matches later in the week should get the all clear.
