‘His Legs Look Really Good’ — Steelers QB Coach Tom Arth Shares Encouraging Update on Aaron…

Aaron Rodgers has continued to show he can extend plays with his legs, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have noticed a difference in his mobility this season. Despite his age, the veteran quarterback remains capable of moving around the pocket and buying extra time when defenses close in.

Rodgers helped the Steelers beat the New Orleans Saints 16-10 in Paris on Sunday, improving the Steelers’ record to 5-2. While his passing touchdown made NFL history, his movement has also caught the coaching staff’s attention.

Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth shared an encouraging assessment of Rodgers’ physical condition when asked about the quarterback’s mobility on Thursday. Arth pointed specifically to Rodgers’ legs and his ability to make plays outside the pocket, suggesting the veteran is moving well.

“Physically, the biggest thing that I certainly noticed has been his legs. His legs look really good, and he’s moving very well in the pocket, the scrambles outside the pocket. That’s been really exciting to see. Not that he didn’t do that for us last year, but I feel like he feels better for whatever reason. He’s been awesome extending plays.”

The coach acknowledged that Rodgers showed similar ability last season; however, he believes the quarterback looks more comfortable now. That mobility remains important for the Steelers offense. However, Rodgers does not have to rely solely on scrambling, as his skills at getting out of trouble may give him opportunities to pass if something goes wrong with the initial play. When facing the quick closing of passing lanes, such extra seconds may be very valuable.

In the match against Paris, Rodgers accumulated 212 passing yards and threw one touchdown, completing 19 of 30 passes. In addition, he made an important contribution to the Steelers’ ball control in the last quarter by completing a first-down scramble.

With the latest victory, the Steelers won their third consecutive match and are 5-2. Nevertheless, it appears that Rodgers is not entirely pleased with the team’s offensive results.

Arth’s comments offer a positive sign for Pittsburgh as the season progresses. At this stage of Rodgers’ career, maintaining his mobility and ability to extend plays could be just as important as his arm strength. If he continues to feel comfortable outside the pocket, the Steelers will have another way to keep drives alive when their passing game comes under pressure.
