Albion will have been handed one of the more experienced referees in the top flight for their midweek Carabao Cup tie.
Andy Madley from West Yorkshire will take charge of the fourth-round clash at Manchester City.
VAR is not in operation.
Madley, 43, has refereed the Seagulls 28 times down the years, starting with a 0-0 draw at QPR in the Championship 13 years ago in the early weeks of Oscar Garcia’s time as head coach.
Albion will be looking for one of the more notable results of recent years as they chase a first win away to City.
Madley has had the whistle for two of their most humiliating away defeats as well as three of their most spectacular home wins.
He was at the Amex when they beat Manchester United 4-0, when they humbled Graham Potter’s Chelsea 4-1 and, in the Championship promotion season, in the 5-0 thrashing of Norwich City.
But his Albion away games down the years include the 3-1 FA Cup exit at National League outfit Lincoln and the 6-1 hammering at Aston Villa.
Those were two of just four defeats Albion have suffered in those 28 games in which Madley has refereed them.
His most recent game was Spurs’ win over Coventry and he has so far refereed nine matches this season, including two European ties this term, showing yellow 34 times.
He has not produced his red card in 11 matches, the last dismissals being one for each team when Fulham played Bournemouth towards the end of last season.
