E.J. Jenkins reportedly not returning to the Eagles

E.J. Jenkins is not returning to the Philadelphia Eagles after being **[waived by the team last week.](/news/187894/eagles-reportedly-waive-e-j-jenkins)**

Jenkins is instead signing with the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad, according to a [report from Andrew DiCecco](https://x.com/AndrewDiCecco/status/2114710725583049055).

It’s currently unclear if the Eagles had interest in signing Jenkins to their practice squad. There was thought they might since they’d have the flexibility to temporarily elevate him to the game day roster up to three times. And they previously liked Jenkins enough to have him as their third tight end on the roster.

In any case, Jenkins joins a large number of other former Eagles players (Andy Dalton, Za’Darius Smith, Olamide Zaccheaus, Jahan Dotson, Sydney Brown, Nick Muse, Robert Longerbeam, Trey Sermon, and Cameron Williams) in Atlanta. The Falcons notably employ former Eagles executive Ian Cunningham as their general manager.

The Eagles currently have two tight ends on their active roster: Dallas Goedert and Johnny Mundt. They also have Eli Stowers and Grant Calcaterra, who are in their 21-day practice windows to be activated from injured reserve. And then there’s Zach Ertz on the practice squad.

The Eagles will likely make some more roster moves ahead of Monday’s 4:00 PM Eastern deadline to have more than just two tight ends available for their Week 7 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
