Gabe Jacas Continues Strong Rookie Season With Patriots' Top Defensive PFF Grade vs. Bears image
Gabe Jacas experienced a bumpy start to his rookie season with the Patriots, as he was the last second-round pick to sign a contract because of health issues.
But the 22-year-old has quickly eliminated any concerns, making an instant impact for New England. Jacas continued what has been a strong campaign with the team's top defensive PFF grade (80.5) in Thursday's loss to Chicago. Tight end Hunter Henry (81.1) was the only Patriots player with a higher grade than Jacas.
Through the Pats' first seven games of the season, Jacas has 21 total tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and one interception. He has the second-most QB hits (four) and hurries (14) among New England players, per PFF, despite logging just 248 snaps.
Could Jacas hit a rookie wall and see a dip in production during the second half of the season? Perhaps. But the Patriots have been able to keep him fresh so far, and he has delivered.
