'He drives me nuts' - ex-Everton employee rips into Arteta after what he did in Arsenal win

That is the opinion of former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The Spaniard was handed a yellow card by referee Tony Harrington for repeatedly leaving his technical area - the second time he has been booked for the offence this season.

Arteta later claimed that he has 'a massive of storage' of evidence that shows other Premier League managers leaving their technical area without receiving yellow cards.

David Moyes was also booked by Harrington for his complaints during the game, which was won courtesy of goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel.

Arteta has been a frequent subject of analysis over his touchline behaviour, with it appearing that referees have been told to clamp down this season.

Mikel Arteta 'lucky not to receive a red card'

Arteta met Harrington's yellow card with a smile, pointing towards his assistant manager, Gabriel Heinze.

Yet the Spaniard will need to start keeping a closer eye on his position on the touchline, with just one more yellow card set to see him serve a one-match suspension.

"If I was a player, I wouldn't want to see my manager dancing about, shouting about, waving his arms about," King told Football Insider.

"Getting soaking wet. What does it prove? Are you trying to prove that you're involved in the game because you're the manager? He drives me nuts, Arteta.

"When he got the yellow card, he was trying to point the finger that it wasn't him. Have a laugh, will you? He's lucky he didn't get a red card for taking the mick.

"Why have a box there? Listen, if you're on the platform, you don't go and wait on the line for the train, do you? It's the same with them. You've got a box, stick with it.

"That's where you can operate. You don't need to be out there waving and dancing around anyway. What does it prove? You never saw the great managers in the past doing it, it's something that's come in the game."

What did Arteta say?

Arteta's battle against the referees has felt like a constant theme throughout his tenure at Arsenal.

"I do have to be careful. They should put sensors there," he said after Saturday's game. "There are managers who have the record in the league, 36 times in 10 minutes [they] leave the touchline - no yellows.

"I am clipping all of that so I have now a massive storage of images, so if somebody comes to me I can say, 'I am not in the record yet'. Somebody else has the record so let's see.

"Then it's 36 yellow cards in 10 minutes for the managers. I don't know what we are going to do - let's see."
