The Los Angeles Rams bounced back with a 35-21 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 behind Matthew Stafford’s three-touchdown performance.
The veteran quarterback completed 23 of 29 passes for 195 yards and threw all three of his touchdowns in the first half. It was an efficient day for Stafford, who passed Roman Gabriel as the Rams’ all-time passing touchdowns leader with his 11-yard strike to Puka Nacua in the second quarterback.
Stafford discussed the accomplishment and said he is grateful for everyone who helped him reach that number, via [Zach Edwards of TheRams.com](https://www.therams.com/news/quarterback-matthew-stafford-career-afternoon-leads-balanced-offensive-attack-in-rams-win-over-raiders-2026):
> “It just means you’re old and you play a lot of ball,” Stafford said postgame of the franchise passing touchdown accomplishment. “Just super appreciative of all the guys that helped me do that. Catching touchdowns and throwing touchdowns isn’t a one-man job. Takes a lot of people to block and get open, and coaches to draw plays.”
Stafford needed only 81 games to become the Rams’ all-time leader with 155 passing touchdowns. His success in L.A. followed a 12-year career with the Detroit Lions, where he also set a franchise record by throwing for 282 touchdowns. Stafford is the only quarterback in NFL history to lead two franchises in career touchdown passes.
The 38-year-old is now in his fifth season with the Rams and has done nothing but impress since arriving to the team. He led the franchise to a Super Bowl title in 2022 and most recently won NFL MVP honors.
Stafford is now trying to help lead the Rams back into playoff contention after a slow start to the 2026 season, and their win over the Raiders on Sunday was certainly a step in the right direction. He currently leads the NFL with 1,989 passing yards and has thrown for 14 touchdowns against seven interceptions in seven games so far.
Rams exploring potential wide receiver upgrades
-----------------------------------------------
With Davante Adams set to undergo hamstring surgery that will keep him out for six to 10 weeks, the Rams [may turn to the trade market to find reinforcements at the wide receiver position](https://ramsnewswire.com/rams-to-explore-possibility-of-trading-for-wide-receiver-after-davante-adams-injury/2026/10/21/). Some possible options include Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jauan Jennings of the Minnesota Vikings and Marquise Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles. Tyreek Hill is also still a free agent and potentially nearing a return.
L.A. still has one of the best wide receivers in the league in Puka Nacua, but the depth behind him is thin as Konata Mumpfield, Jordan Whittington, Tutu Atwell and C.J. Daniels all lack experience or trust in the Rams’ offense.
The NFL trade deadline is a few weeks away on Nov. 10, so the Rams have some time to assess what they have before potentially making a move.
