Before Sunday’s game, Tebow held the Broncos’ record for the longest rushing touchdown by a quarterback, having scored on a 40-yard run in 2010. Nix surpassed that mark by breaking free for a 62-yard score that left Arizona’s defense unable to stop him.
The run also made NFL history as the longest touchdown on a quarterback scramble during the Next Gen Stats era.
Nix’s performance extended beyond his record-breaking run. He finished with 222 passing yards and a touchdown through the air, adding another rushing score to produce one of his most impressive performances of the 2026 season.
He also became just the fifth player in NFL history to record both a 50-yard rushing touchdown and a 50-yard passing touchdown in the same game. The feat had not been accomplished since Ace Parker of the 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers.
The performance was particularly surprising given Nix’s limited rushing production earlier in the season. He had accumulated just 37 rushing yards through Denver’s first six games before exploding for 73 yards against the Cardinals.
That effort brings his season total to 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Despite his recent success, Nix has experienced some difficulties as a passer this season. Through seven games, he has completed 59.2 percent of his attempts for 1,271 yards and seven touchdowns.
However, Denver’s recent results suggest the team is finding ways to win while Nix continues developing as a quarterback.
The Broncos now hold a 5-2 record after winning three straight games, putting them in a strong position heading into a crucial divisional matchup.
Denver will face the Kansas City Chiefs, who enter Week 8 at 5-1, on Sunday. Nix will have another opportunity to demonstrate his growth against one of the AFC’s toughest opponents.
Following his record-breaking performance, the Broncos quarterback will be looking to maintain his momentum and lead Denver toward another important victory.
