The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers in Week 7 in Baker Mayfield's first game back from injury, and it was one of the most shocking performances of the season.
The 3-2 Panthers had some momentum coming into this game, but they were dominated, 43-13, giving the Buccaneers their second win this season. But the wildest part of this blowout was what happened in the second quarter.
As OptaSTATS shared, the Buccaneers' 26-point second quarter, which featured a blocked PAT for two points on top of four touchdowns, made NFL history that has only ever happened once before in league history.
Buccaneers make rare NFL history with wild 2nd quarter
"The Buccaneers are the second team in NFL history with a pass TD, rush TD, field goal, defensive TD, and special teams TD/returned XP in a single quarter," OptaSTATS shared. "They join the Jets in Week 1, 2018 (3Q vs. DET)."
After taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, the Buccaneers began the second quarter with a 22-yard field goal from Chase McLaughlin.
Then, the Buccaneers' defense sacked Bryce Young, forcing a fumble that Calijah Kancey returned for a 32-yard fumble-return touchdown to make it 17-0.

Carolina got on the board with a 50-yard touchdown pass to Darren Waller, but on the ensuing point-after-try, the Buccaneers blocked the kick, recovered the kick, and returned it for two points to take a 19-6 lead.
To close out the quarter and their dominant first half, Bucky Irving had a rushing touchdown from one yard out, and Tex Johnson caught a 14-yard pass from Mayfield to make it 33-6 at the end of the first half.
Overall, the Buccaneers scored 26 points in one half thanks to rushing, receiving, and defensive fumble-recovery touchdowns, with a field goal and the rare blocked PAT for a two-point return.
This rare NFL history has only been done one other time, and now the Buccaneers are a part of history with their second quarter against the Panthers being one of the wildest ever seen in NFL history.
