Seahawks’ Jadarian Price Will Practice This Week; Latest On Zach Charbonnet

The Seahawks’ backfield has been shorthanded throughout the early stages of the season. Reinforcements are coming in the near future, though.

Head coach Mike Macdonald said on Monday (via ESPN’s Brady Henderson) Jadarian Price will return to practice this week. As a result, his 21-day activation window will begin shortly. Price will need to be brought back onto the active roster within that span to avoid reverting to season-ending injured reserve.

The first-round rookie was moved to injured reserve earlier this month due to a chest injury. Price has now missed four games, meaning a return to practice this week will represent his first opportunity to resume on-field work. He has recorded 140 scoreless scrimmage yards to date while logging a 36% snap share on offense.

Improvements with the respect to ball security would help Price’s chances of securing a larger role moving forward. On the other hand, Zach Charbonnet could be back on the field as early as Week 8 as well. His rehab from an ACL tear continues, and last week Seattle activated him from the reserve/PUP list. Charbonnet – who is in line to handle significant carries upon returning to action – did not play yesterday but general manager John Schneider said (h/t Henderson) there is hope for the fourth-year back to play in Week 8.

The Seahawks’ next contest will be on Monday Night Football against the Bears. Macdonald did not say if Price is expected to play in that game and he noted it is far from certain Charbonnet will be available as well. Nevertheless, Seattle’s backfield could be back at full strength over the coming days. At a minimum, improved health at the running back spot can be expected for the middle portion of the season.
